We know that when a fire hits your home, you don’t know what steps to take next. Thankfully, we are available 24/7 every day of the year. We know that fires and other disasters don’t wait for business hours, so neither do we. As soon as you call us, we are there to answer your questions and start walking you through the restoration process.
One of the first things that we will do is to secure your property. We use several methods:
- Roofs – We cover damaged roofs with tarps to prevent further damage from weather events.
- Windows/Doors – We will board up windows and doors to prevent entry to both intruders and wild animals. We also may board up walls if there is severe damage.
- Fencing – In some cases, we will bring in temporary fencing to protect both your property and potential trespassers from harm.
The next step is a careful inspection to see exactly what kind of damage there is. We are looking for both obvious and subtle signs of damage. Our expert will determine what types of soot are present, how severe the fire damage is, and what steps should be taken to restore the building.
Often, fires result in water damage as well. Pipes may be damaged in addition to water from efforts to extinguish the flames. Water that isn’t removed promptly can lead to mold and mildew. If there are large amount of water present we use vacuums and pumps to remove it. Smaller amounts may be handled by fans and dehumidifiers.
Once any water is removed, we will start the cleaning process. Many of your belongings will be removed for off-site cleaning. Soot and other residues will be removed. Some can be handled with regular household cleaners, but many oily residues require commercial products. Once the area is cleaned, we inspect and clean your air ducts to remove soot and prevent lingering odors.
Materials like carpeting and drywall will be hauled away for disposal. Damaged materials are either repaired or replaced. Plumbing and electrical work is inspected and repaired as needed. Once the construction aspects of the job are complete, we make sure all of the finish work like trim, paint, and other details are taken care of.
