So What Now? – 4 Basic Steps to Restoration
No one wants to think about what would happen if a fire, flood, or other disaster affected their home or business. When disaster does hit, it can come in many different forms. At LaPointe Construction, we don’t expect you to know what to do. With over 50 years in business, that’s our job. We can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you don’t have to be alone and unsure of what to do.
- Secure Your Property
- Plan Development
After any disaster, the first step is securing your property. This can take many different forms, depending on the situation. The most common steps that we take include covering damaged roofs with tarps, installing temporary fencing, and boarding up damaged windows, doors, or walls.
The second step is to inspect your property to determine the causes and extent of damage. Events like fires and storms often bring multiple types of damage. Our experts check over your entire property, noting any problems and determining if it is safe to use.
Once we have completed a thorough inspection, our team creates a detailed restoration plan. We work with you and your insurance company to make sure that everyone is on the same page. Keep in mind that, as the restoration progresses, further problems may appear that were hidden. As damaged walls and other materials are removed, hidden problems may surface. Our crew always keeps you in the loop as anything changes, and we continually help you navigate the insurance process.
The implementation of the plan is the most varied stage. Some projects may take a few days, while others can take months. If there is water damage in the home, the first priority here is to find out where it is coming from and solve that problem. Then the team focuses on water removal and thorough drying to prevent continuing damage and mold growth. Depending on the types of damage in your home or business, the plan may include
- Contain and clean mold
- Repair or replace drywall, flooring, ceilings
- Clean and/or repair appliance, electronics
- Removal or belongings for cleaning or disposal
- Repair or reconstruction of rooms or entire building
